  • Yield: 8 pockets 1x
  • Diet: Gluten Free

Description

These easy Cheeseburger Pockets are a crispy, golden-brown twist on a classic cheeseburger, filled with seasoned beef and melty cheese inside a flaky pastry. Perfect for quick dinners, snacks, or meal prep, these handheld pockets are kid-friendly and can be customized with different fillings.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional, for extra umami)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or preferred cheese)

For the Dough:

  • 1 package crescent roll dough (or biscuit dough, puff pastry)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Optional Add-Ins:

  • ¼ cup diced onions
  • ¼ cup chopped pickles
  • ¼ cup crispy bacon bits
  • ¼ cup diced jalapeños

Instructions

1. Prepare the Filling

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the ground beef until no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  2. Drain excess grease and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheese until melted. Let the mixture cool slightly.

2. Assemble the Cheeseburger Pockets

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) (or air fryer to 350°F (175°C)).
  2. Roll out the crescent dough and cut into squares or circles.
  3. Place 1-2 tablespoons of the filling in the center of each piece.
  4. Fold over the dough, press edges firmly with a fork, and brush with egg wash for a golden finish.
  5. Poke a small hole on top to allow steam to escape.

3. Bake or Air Fry

  1. Oven: Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Air Fryer: Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway for even crispiness.

4. Serve & Enjoy

  1. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve with ketchup, mustard, ranch, or BBQ sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • For a crispier crust, use puff pastry instead of crescent rolls.
  • Make-ahead tip: Assemble and freeze unbaked pockets for up to 2 months; bake straight from frozen, adding 3-5 extra minutes.
  • For a low-carb version, use fathead dough or lettuce wraps instead of pastry.
