Description
This Chocolate Mug Cake is rich, moist, and ready in just minutes! Made with simple pantry ingredients, no eggs, and cooked in the microwave, it’s the perfect single-serving dessert when you’re craving something chocolaty and indulgent.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 3 tbsp milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 1 tbsp canola oil or melted butter
- ⅛ tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp chocolate chips (optional, for extra gooeyness)
Instructions
- Prepare the Mug: Use a microwave-safe mug (at least 12 oz) to prevent overflow. Lightly grease the bottom for easy cleanup.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: Add flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt to the mug. Stir well to combine.
- Add Wet Ingredients: Pour in milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and no lumps remain.
- Optional: Stir in chocolate chips or sprinkle them on top for a gooey center.
- Microwave: Cook on high power for 70–90 seconds, depending on your microwave wattage. Start with 70 seconds and add time if needed.
- Rest & Enjoy: Let the cake sit for one minute to set before digging in. Enjoy warm!
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
- To avoid dryness, do not overcook. The cake continues cooking after removal.
- Customize it! Add a spoonful of Nutella or peanut butter before microwaving for a molten center.
- Dairy-free? Use almond, soy, or oat milk and dairy-free chocolate chips.
- Gluten-free? Substitute with gluten-free flour blend (with xanthan gum).
