Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen)
- 1 cup fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1/2 cup custard (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
- 2 tablespoons sugar (for sprinkling)
- 1 tablespoon apricot jam (optional, for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 4 equal squares or desired shapes.
- Score a 1/4-inch border around each square without cutting through the dough. Dock the center with a fork.
- Spread a thin layer of custard inside the scored border. Arrange fresh berries on top.
- Brush the edges with beaten egg and sprinkle with sugar for a golden finish.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden.
- (Optional) Warm apricot jam and lightly brush it over the fruit for a glossy glaze.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Use any fruit of your choice, such as peaches or apples, for variation.
- For a richer flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the custard.
- Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
